Creating Event Triggers

A trigger is a condition that causes an event to fire. Triggers can be based on conditions that are created:

By user actions, such as saving and closing a form, changing a record, and so forth
Apart from user actions, such as the passage of time or the result of a database calculation

The Event Triggers form is used to set conditions of the second type.

To create an event trigger:

Open the Event Triggers form.
Press F3.
Select Actions > New.
From the Event Name drop-down list, select the event for which you want to define a trigger.

NOTE: You cannot define a trigger for a framework (Core) event.
On the Trigger tab, in the Condition field, enter the condition for which the event is to fire.

On the Parameters tab, enter the name and values for any event parameters for which you need to pass values to the event handlers when the event fires.

Set other options on this form as desired.
