Use the Forecast form to enter a prediction of requirements for an item (based on sales forecasts, for example). Forecasts are planned in MRP and APS as demands. Customer orders consume a forecast within a time window defined by the Forecast Look Ahead/Behind parameters.
The Outstanding Requirement value represents the forecast demand quantity not consumed by customer orders. This value is updated when you add a new record and when you run MRP or APS Planning or the MPS Processor. The system uses the Outstanding Requirement as the demand quantity to plan. When planning a forecast demand, the system allocates any on-hand inventory and planned supplies to reduce the demand quantity and generates a planned order for the remainder.
NOTE: The forecast demand cannot use any on-hand inventory or planned supplies that were created to satisfy any other forecast demand.
The Actions menu includes the option, Go to Demand Detail Chart APS, which opens the Demand Detail Chart APS form. This option displays a graphical representation of how the system uses supplies, on-hand inventory, and resource capacity to satisfy the demand at each level of the bill of material.
