Selecting a Printer

You have several options for selecting printers:

• The global default printer is set during system installation on the utility server.

  This is the printer that TaskMan uses as the default printer for printing reports, records, and other outputs.

• You can set a default printer for each report and/or each user in the system. To do this, use the Report Options form to create report output profiles.
  EXAMPLE 1:

  Suppose you want all inventory sheets (Print Inventory Sheets form) to print on one particular printer. On the Report Options form, you would:

  • Select PrintInventorySheetsReport in the Task Name field.
  • Leave the User field blank.
  • In the Output Format field, select Printer.
  • From the Printer Name drop-down list, select the printer to use for this activity.

  EXAMPLE 2:

  Suppose you want to assign a default printer for a user in your system. You would:

  • In the User field, select the person for whom you want to assign the default printer.
  • Leave the Task Name field blank.
  • In the Output Format field, select Printer.
  • From the Printer Name drop-down list, select the printer to use as the default for this user.
• When printing reports, if you want to use a printer different than the default printer, you can select an alternate printer. For more information and the procedure, see Printing Reports.
