Selecting Existing Serial Numbers
When a serial-tracked item is shipped, moved, returned, or declared
a loss, you must indicate that item's serial number(s) in the transaction
 form's Serial Numbers tab.
	- Enter the item number, quantity, and any other required information
(such as location). The Serial Numbers tab is then activated, indicating
	 the item is serial-tracked.
- In the Serial Numbers tab, the Target Qty, Generate Qty, and Range
Qty default to the value of the Quantity field in the Detail tab.
If necessary, change the Generate Qty. It should indicate how many
serial numbers you want listed, in order to make your selections.
- Click Generate to start Filter-in-Place mode and activate
	 the Serials grid.
- In the S/N field, enter any filtering criteria to use to select
the range of serial numbers to display.
- Click the filter-in-place button. A list of existing serial numbers
matching your filter criteria is retrieved from the database and displayed
in the grid. The list contains the amount of serial numbers specified
	 in the Generate Qty.
- Select the serial numbers to use for the transaction. Use either
	 of these methods:

		- In the grid, click the Select check box to select each serial
		 number you want.
- To select a range of numbers, manually select the first number
you want; then, in the Range Qty field, enter the amount of serial
numbers to select (by default, this value matches the Target Qty).
Then click Select Range to select the following serial
numbers in the grid, up to the Range Qty value.

- When you process the transaction, the selected serial numbers are
	 included with the transaction.
NOTE: To select new
system serial numbers for a Vendor Ship Notice (GRN) where vendor-assigned
serial numbers exist, use the Vendor Serial button instead of the
Generate button. Vendor-assigned serial numbers come into the system only
 through EDI transactions.
