Costing Analysis Workbench
Use this form to create and work with costing alternatives.
These tabs are provided for use with all costing alternative records:
- Items tab: For manually adding manufactured items to a costing
alternative. The bottom section of the tab provides a tree view of
the routing associated with an item selected in the grid.
- Compare tab: For comparing your costing alternative record with
current or standard costs, or with the costs in another costing alternative.
These tabs are available for use if you do not
copy the existing routing for the costing alternative record. You can
add, modify, or remove records on these tabs.
- Product Codes tab: For changing mark-up factors, fixed and variable
material overhead rates, and purchased overhead rates.
- Departments tab: For changing fixed and variable labor overhead
rates.
- Work Centers tab: For changing setup rates, run labor rates, fixed
and variable machine overhead rates, overhead basis, and efficiency
percent.
- Materials tab: For setting up revised costs for purchased items.
For example, you could change the material cost for aluminum
as well as the freight, duty, brokerage, insurance, and local freight
costs. The unit cost on this tab is the sum of all other fields.
NOTE: If
a manufactured item is added to the Materials tab, its manufacturing costs
are not used in the costing alternative. The purchased costs are used
instead of the original manufacturing costs.
