Intra-Site Transfer Setup, Planning, and Review
To set up your system to include transit time from the default warehouse
to a distribution warehouse during APS or MRP forecast planning, follow
these steps:
General setup:
- On the Warehouses
form, define the distribution warehouse. Also, on the General tab,
select Dedicated Inventory
and Plan Intra-Site Transfer.
In the Transit Time field,
specify the number of days needed to move items from the default warehouse
to this distribution warehouse.
- On the Item/Warehouse
form, define item warehouses for the distribution warehouse.
- On the
Item Stockroom Locations
form, define item locations for the distribution warehouse.
- On the Planning Parameters
form, select the Plan Intra-Site
Transfers field to cause the planner to consider transit times.
Deselect this field to disregard transit times, meaning the distribution
warehouses are treated as if their inventory and supply were at the
default warehouse.
Define independent demand for the distribution warehouse:
- On the Customer
Order Blanket Lines form, enter a new order line for the
distribution warehouse and item.
- On the Project
Resources form, enter new project material for the distribution
warehouse and item.
- On the Transfer
Orders form, enter the current site as the
From Site and the default warehouse as the From Whse. Specify the current
site also as the To Site
and the distribution warehouse as the To
Whse. Use the current item.
Plan the transfer orders and review results:
- Run APS
Planning or MRP Planning.
- Planned intra-site transfer orders are created for the distribution
warehouses based on the Priority
field on the Item/Warehouse
form, or if priority is undefined, shortest to longest transit times.
- On the Master
Planning Display form, you can review the Transfer Demand
column for planned intra-site transfer orders.
- On the Planning
Detail form, you can review detail for transfer demand
and planned supply. Transfer demand is display-only and shows:
- Reference value - TPLN
WTD-<number>.
- Outstanding requirement
- Quantity from the planned intra-site transfer order, which is
derived from the original independent demand at the distribution
warehouse.
- Release Date - The
date on which the item must be requested in order to arrive by
the needed date.
- End Date - Scheduled
shipping date from the planned intra-site transfer order, which
is derived from the demand due date minus the intra-site transit
time.
Planned supply for transfer demand is display-only
and shows:
Reference
value - PLN <number>.
Parent
reference - TPLN WTD-<number>.
Outstanding
receipt - Quantity from the planned intra-site transfer
order.
Release
Date - The plan job release date, which is based upon the
release date from the planned intra-site transfer order, adjusted
for manufacturing lead time.
End
Date - The release date from the planned intra-site transfer
order.
NOTE: To firm a planned
intra-site transfer order, you must use the
Intra-Site Transfer Detail Firm Transfer Order form. For more information,

Intra-Site Transfer Orders.
